There is a wide range of anime characters who can stop and control time, so we decided to put together a list. The list includes anime characters from different types of shows and genres. Some are more powerful than others, but all have the ability to manipulate time in some way.
The anime characters who can time travel is a list of 15 anime characters that are able to stop and control time.
Any anime that deals with the idea of time will always be fascinating.
Especially when a character in the program has the ability to manipulate it.
And you have to agree, despite the fact that the number of anime characters with time abilities has grown over time, they’re still a lot of fun to watch.
Especially if they’re more than simply powerful powers and are well-written characters in their own right.
For this list, I’ll share several anime characters that have the ability to bend time to their whim, and rate them all based on how effectively they do it.
Then it’s time to start making a list! (Wow, I can’t believe I just typed that…)
15. Natsuki Subaru
Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu (Anime)
If you’re anything like me, you’ve undoubtedly fantasized about having the power to “save” and “load” in real life.
So, be cautious what you wish for, since it may not be as enjoyable as you think.
Subaru, at the very least, isn’t one of them.
We have your usual NEET who got Isekai’d in this position, as well as someone who went through so much hell that his therapist needed another therapist.
Simply said, Subaru’s Return By Death transports him to an unknown “Save Point” if he dies, which he did.
There’s a lot of it.
Takemichi Hanagaki is 14 years old.
Tokyo Revengers is a Japanese anime series.
Despite the fact that Takemichi’s skill is comparable to Subaru’s in certain respects, he got the better end of the bargain.
For one thing, he wasn’t sent to a hostile alien planet where he might die at any time.
In addition, compared to Re:Zero, the stakes in Tokyo Revengers are considerably lower.
However, this does not make Takemichi’s tale any less compelling.
On the contrary, a basic “do-over” concept in a non-fantasy environment, as well as regular people who can’t rip him limb from limb for side characters, is intriguing enough on its own.
With the exception of Mikey, that is.
He’s a one-of-a-kind individual.
Rolo Lamperouge (13), Rolo Lamperouge (13), Rolo
Code Geass is a Japanese anime series.
Rolo is our first “capable” time manipulator, in my opinion, since, although his Geass has certain flaws, they aren’t so severe that he needs to die to utilize it.
He, like the most of the people on this list, has the ability to halt time, but only against living beings (and his heart refusing to work whenever he does it).
And, although his ability has a range restriction, that didn’t stop him from using it nearly too effectively in the performance.
After all, with his Geass, he’s amassed quite a body count.
Even though he didn’t use it, he murdered off a particular character, which most fans (aha, get it?) didn’t like.
12. Guldo
Dragon Ball Z is a Japanese animated television series.
Are you sure you didn’t see it coming?
Please don’t misunderstand me. I’m sure Whis and Hit belong on this list as well…
But, let’s face it, let’s be honest:
Both of them are anticipated to possess a number of powerful skills.
But what about this tiny man who can freeze time just by not breathing?
He’s essentially the Ginyu Force’s last survivor. When I initially saw Dragon Ball Z, I didn’t expect to see such a potentially broken ability.
Maybe he could have grown into Universe 7’s very own Hit if he had done more exercise and paid more attention to his surroundings.
I mean, who knows?
Dio Brando (#11)
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is a Japanese anime series.
This egotistical Victorian vampire/meme machine had better be darn sure I’d put him on this list.
Dio is probably the most renowned character to come out of that masterpiece of a show, and for good reason. In addition to being one of the strongest time-stoppers in anime, Dio is arguably the most famous character to come out of that masterpiece of a show, and for good cause.
Apart from his celebrity, his Stand Ability: “The World” (Za Warudo! sorry, I couldn’t resist) has the ability to halt time. And that gives him 10 seconds to do pretty much whatever he wants.
Is there enough time, though, to locate and raise a road roller with which to smash your opponent?
Most likely.
We’re talking about Dio here.
Esdeath is ten.
Akame ga Kill! is a Japanese anime.
General Esdeath is more than simply a ruthless ice-tsundere. In the midst of combat, she can also stop time.
Isn’t it as though she needed to be more overpowered?
No, not at all. After all, given how powerful her opponents are in the Akameverse, having a few broken abilities to utilize for herself can’t hurt.
She, like the most of the people we’ve discussed thus far on this list, ended up biting the dust, as not even her time-stopping talent could rescue her in the end. Bummer.
Jotaro Kujo (nine)
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is a Japanese anime series.
“You thought Dio was the only JBA figure on this list, but Jotaro is here as well!”
As if he’d say anything like that.
While Jotaro’s Star Platinum can only freeze time for 5 seconds compared to Dio’s 10, I choose to rank him higher than Dio since he made better use of those 5 seconds.
To be honest, Dio did have a habit of talking too much and being inactive during his time outs, which may or may not have led to his demise.
But it’s not like we’re complaining.
Even Dio’s voice has become excellent meme fodder.
8. Eri
Boku no Hero Academia is a Japanese anime series.
Among the cheat-tier characters that really look the part, this beautiful young girl is an exception.
However, don’t be misled by her quiet demeanor.
She does, after all, have one of the most powerful Quirks in terms of usefulness and offense.
She may lack control over her abilities, but she has the ability to change the physical condition of any biological creature.
This implies that she has the ability to cure anybody or give them everlasting youth. She has the ability to reverse hostiles so far back in time that they virtually cease to exist.
As I have said, this little one is not to be taken lightly.
This isn’t even her last appearance!
Momonga is number seven.
Overlord is a Japanese anime series.
Even without his Time Stop, this skeleton is already an OP character.
However, the fact that he has it attests to his status as one of YGGDRASIL’s most powerful players.
He not only has a lot of high-tier equipment, goods, and spells in the game, but he also knows how to use them to their maximum potential.
This is apparent when he combines his Time Stop with yet another broken special of his — one that amplifies all of his spells’ ‘instant-death’ effects on his foes.
In essence, he can freeze time and then perform whatever instadeath spell he has in his repertoire, all while keeping his opponents in the dark.
If I do say so myself, this is the ideal pairing.
6. Makoto
The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (Anime)
Makoto was an average tomboyish high school student until she stumbled across a once-in-a-lifetime chance.
Of course, I’m referring about the capacity to travel across time.
As a result, the film’s title.
Sure, she doesn’t seem to be one of the more aloof individuals on our list. But, in comparison to the majority of them, she has a superior time-based ability.
After all, she can travel through time whenever and anywhere she wishes, with the small restriction that she can only use her abilities to a certain extent.
Julius Novachrono, No. 5
Black Clover is a Japanese anime series.
No one would dare to claim that this man does not live up to his renowned title of “Wizard King.”
Julius’ mastery over Time Magic is near-perfect, and quite simply broken, while it all comes down to how far he could push himself.
He’s been seen pwning many members of the Eye of the Midnight Sun and performing a huge time magic that covers his whole country without breaking a sweat.
Even death, after he gave his greatest sacrifice, couldn’t hold this man down.
With awe and admiration.
Saiki Kusuo is number four on the list.
Saiki Kusuo no Psi Nan (Anime)
Is it any surprise that anime’s most powerful esper also possesses the capacity to manipulate time?
Most likely not. Despite the fact that this series is more focused on humor than action, Saiki would definitely defeat 9 of the 10 anime characters you could throw him up against.
Yep. He’s that powerful.
He’s been seen, for example, resetting the whole world’s time back a full year in order to prevent a catastrophe that might wipe Japan off the face of the Earth.
To prevent problems, every single person’s recollection of the previous year was altered.
What a character.
Kurumi Tokisaki is number three on the list.
Date A Live is an anime that is based on a true story.
Even while the anime is mostly on waifus, it nevertheless devotes a significant amount of attention to their powers.
It even includes a mobile gacha game (along with a slew of console games) that allows you to date all of them!
But only if your pocketbook can take it…
Kurumi is one of the show’s, if not the show’s, strongest waifus.
She has the power to not only travel across time alone, but also to take others with her.
Kurumi does have a “weakness” in that everytime she utilizes her abilities, her life force diminishes.
Even so, it’s a little stumbling block for her since she can absorb anyone’s time (life energy) for herself.
2. Akemi Homura
Puella Magi Madoka Magica is a Japanese anime series.
Would you do it if you had the ability to go back in time and live out various timelines in order to suffer for the one you love over and over again?
That’s very much what Homura did.
And her story is as sad as they get.
Especially for a program ostensibly about adorable magical girls.
What more can I say? It was, but they really got me in the first half.
Homura is ranked so high on this list because her power is all-encompassing, which means she has an infinite range and can influence even the most powerful witches/magical girls.
Madoka, who is probably the strongest magical girl in anime (due to the existence of Sailor Moon), was a frequent victim of her time manipulation.
1. Dialga
Pokémon: The Animated Series
Each and every one of the characters on this list was a perfect match.
But how could they possibly compare to the very essence of time?
Dialga may be thought of being the fundamental essence of time.
Arceus and Palkia, who represented space at the time, were the first to invent the idea of time.
Time didn’t “move” before Dialga was born, according to the Pokémon world, thus Dialga has the ability to manipulate time as it pleases.
Even yet, I still find it amusing that these creatures can be captured and confined in a little ball that you can carry about in your back pocket.
Pokeball does really go brrr.
The anime where mc can stop time is a genre that has been present for a while. It’s usually an anime about fighting, magic, and other things that are related to the supernatural.
