The team behind the popular indie co-op game Peak has criticised those who make copies of their game on other platforms, calling them ‘slop’ and urging players to pirate the original instead. Peak has quickly gained fame in the indie scene, setting player count records and building a large fan base.
However, with its rise in fame comes many copies, as other developers try to profit from the climbing genre. It appears Aggro Crab, the makers of the game, are fed up and are now harshly calling out the clones. In a post on X (previously Twitter), they shared a picture of a Roblox copy of Peak called Cliff, noting the clear similarities.
They stated they would prefer you pirate our game than play this microtransaction-filled Roblox knockoff. One big issue Aggro Crab is facing is the push for the game to be on consoles. Players who only use consoles can’t play, which may drive some to these ‘ripoffs’.
However, in the comments, the studio said they do plan to bring the game to consoles, so a release might be near. Many fans agreed, saying they would rather pay the fair $8 for one of the best co-op games they have played.
Peak costs less than most games today, so many fans are eager to buy the original. Some are urging Aggro Crab to ask Roblox to ‘ban the game and the group’ or to ‘copyright strike the game’. However, as of now, Cliff is still active on Roblox.

What is Peak?
The indie game ‘Peak’ is a popular co-op climbing game that was mostly created in only four weeks. The team said they focused on the work. At first, people liked it just for its funny name, but soon many saw the true fun in the game.
The concept is easy: team up with friends online and climb a mountain. Each day brings a new peak to conquer, with fresh challenges to face. It’s become a huge hit on Steam, hitting over 100,000 players at once and selling more than a million copies fast.
The game’s developers worked hard for about four weeks to build most of it. Funny enough, the drive for Peak grew from ‘jealousy’ of another game, Content Warning, that inspired the team at Aggro Crab.
They were close to launching Another Crab’s Treasure, a fun but complex underwater game that took them over three years to make. While that game did well, seeing other titles like Content Warning made them think twice.
The question arose about why they would spend more than three years on a game that only did okay. This was especially when it seemed that Content Warning had much greater success and was created in a shorter time.
Following a similar path, some developers from Aggro Crab took a trip to Seoul, South Korea. There, they set up their computers and focused for a month. Most of their time was spent either working on Peak or grabbing food while discussing the game.
Kaman mentioned that, while it was quite intense, it was also the most enjoyable time he had ever spent on a game. Though the whole co-op experience wasn’t finished in that month, most of the game did come together as it appears on Steam now.
