For lovers of Universal Pictures properties who would rather not attend to the cinema, the wait has become simpler.

Future films from the Universal Filmed Entertainment Group will be accessible on NBC’s Peacock streaming service as soon as 45 days following their theatrical debut, according to an announcement made by NBCUniversal on Thursday. The typical timeframe, which was roughly 120 days, has been significantly reduced.

NBCUniversal on a some of the key films that Peacock customers will be able to see only weeks after their theatrical release:

“As we continue to invest in Peacock’s most valuable and sought-after content, films are an important part of that mix,” said Kelly Campbell, Peacock’s President. “We’re thrilled to be working with the team at Universal Filmed Entertainment Group, and we’re looking forward to bringing their incredible slate of blockbuster films and beloved franchises to Peacock as soon as 45 days after their theatrical release, as well as providing a steady stream of fresh, original films exclusively for Peacock customers throughout the year.”

“We continue to prioritize the theatrical experience and eventizing our world-class programming,” said Peter Levinsohn, UFEG’s Vice Chairman and Chief Distribution Officer. “We serve the demands and expectations of key stakeholders across the spectrum, from our filmmakers and producing partners to cinemagoers and Peacock subscribers, by ensuring our future slate has both a theatrical window and a timely Peacock premiere.”

On July 15, 2020, NBCUniversal debuted its Peacock streaming service. The service’s Premium (limited commercials) and Plus (ad-free) tiers are $4.99 and $9.99 per month, respectively, but there’s also a free tier that gives you access to over 40,000 hours of content and over 50 always-on channels.
